For the folks who love gadgets

Imagine this...you plan on going camping in the Adirondack mountains with a few friends over the weekend and it starts getting dark and you set up a camp fire for the evening. Well this would definitely be a perk if you have a tent set up and use this new entertainment device.

Boom! Look what you then pull out of your pocket....voilĂ

I just saw on the Wired blog that there's a new device called Cinemin Stick that debuted at CES 2009.

The Cinemin Stick, is a candybar-sized projector with internal flash memory and an SD card slot. The cost runs between up to $350 when it hits the shelves through the middle of this year. From what I read, the images it projects appeared reasonably bright and clear at a distance of two or three feet, when projected against a silver projection screen in ordinary hotel ballroom lighting.

Another model similar to the Cinemin Swivel which has a hinge to facilitate aiming the projector at the ceiling. Unlike the Stick, it will not have an SD card slot. The company claims that the Swivel will have a 3-hour battery life.

It's expected to cost around $250. The Swivel will be available in the second quarter.
Both models have ports for connecting an iPod or iPhone, so you can play videos using the projector instead of just the device's tiny screen.

And the Cinemin Station (also below), which is about the size of a clock radio, has an iPod dock for plugging in your favorite MP3 player. It doubles as an external speaker as well as a projector, and will cost about $400 when it becomes available in late 2009.

All three models use DLP technology from Texas Instruments. WowWee has not yet released detailed specifications, exact pricing, or the exact dates when these products will be available

Check out this new product that came out from WowWee:

Meet Rovio:

Nextar's Z10 LCOS (see above) micro projector is pocketable like the other minis and has a resolution of 640 x 480 pixels. It's supposed to be much brighter than the other minis and all images come out in a 4:3 aspect ratio.

Tthe projector will last up to 30,000 hours, has a USB and a Micro SD ports, and comes with a built-in speaker.

The device only weights 1 lb. and will come with a separate, companion accessory the other Pico's don't have: a small 20" screen for insta-presentations. All you need is a clean white wall.
