R.I.P. SOLVE
One of Chi-town's graffiti artist passed away recently this month. You may not have heard of him, but you may have passed by his work around Chicago. He goes by the street name SOLVE.
A 24 year old man named Kirk Tobolski was charged with1 count of 1st degree murder in the stabbing of Brendan Scanlon, aka SOLVE in the Logan Square neighborhood according to police News Affairs.
SOLVE was found with multiple stab wounds to the chest at 3032 W. Palmer Blvd. about 2:40 a.m., police News Affair Officer Laura Kubiak said and the police said SOLVE was leaving a party when he got into a "verbal altercation" and was subsequently stabbed.
SOLVE died of a stab wound to the chest, an autopsy determined on June 14th. His death was ruled a homicide by the Cook County Medical Examiner.
Scanlon graduated from the Illinois Institute of Art in '07, and worked as a freelance graphic designer.
SOLVE wanted "to be a respected member of the international design community," and thought "art is one of the things that makes life worth it."
