Apple's Iphone 3G
The new Iphone 3G is about to drop and it seems that they are expecting 10 million people to purchase the new phone.
It will make a big impact and will replace many cell phones and iPods.
The features are ridiculous: GPS mapping, Microsoft Exchange, with double the internal memory – 16GB and 32GB and a very long lasting battery life. It combines 3 products in one — a revolutionary phone, a widescreen iPod, and a breakthrough Internet device with rich HTML email and a desktop-class web browser. iPhone 3G. It redefines what a mobile phone can do
I was quite very disappointed in Apple's decision to select their "high speed" internet network - EDGE.
T-mobile's EDGE will get you 75 - 135 Kbps.
EVDO Rev A can get you 1000kbps - 2300kbps
So, EDGE isn't very high speed. Thats why the 1st version of the iPhone will not offer iTunes Store for purchases.
In the initial iPhone demo, WiFi was being used, NOT EDGE. I think if people get this device to replace their phone and iPod (if 8GB is enough), they will be very happy. If they are getting this as an internet browser, they will be very unhappy with the speed (when using EDGE vs. WiFi).
I wonder if I can hack it using Verizon? Anyone have any suggestions?
