R.I.P. Isaac Hayes





If you don't recognize this man then you must have missed out on one of the greatest composers and soul-funk artists that changed southern soul music.

Isaac Hayes started at as an in-house producer and songwriter an was responsible for bringing up the record label - Stax Records

His career really took off when he composed a film score in 1971 called Shaft. This lead him an academy award for best original song. He also received 2 Grammy Awards and a third Grammy for his album Black Moses.

If you also didn't know he was the "Chef" on the Comedy Central animated TV series South Park.

He just recently finished working on a film called "Soul Men" in which he plays himself, starring Samuel Jackson and Bernie Mac, who died on Saturday August 9th, 2008.

Hayes was found unconscious yesterday August 10, 20008 in Shelby County, Tennessee He was 65 years old.
