Frankie Table Lamp

So I recently moved into my new spot and am in need of more lamps because apparently a lot of the rooms do not have ceiling lightging so I have been doing some research and thought I'd share this with you all, it is a bit scary for Jackson and Mason but it's still a cool idea to have.

Here's more info. about the Brazilian artist:

Designer Fernando Akasaka continues to impress, this time with his new piece - Frankie, a skull-shaped table lamp with eyes that emits piercing light beams. Using luxe materials like those in his recent and fun Cowboy Junkie saddle stool, the 11-pound light features interchangeable, colored LED or halogen bulbs. Because these options are different wattage power, customers can control the degree of fierceness they'd like for their light source.

As with many of his pieces, customers can choose among sterling silver plated, polished nickel, gold plated or polished bronze. Contact him for prices and order info.

Final Fantasy XIII Japanese Trailer

Excited about this...

straight kiss no chaser

One of the best kept secrets in NYC watch Jadakiss spit the verse from "Big Dogg Status" ...hot track

He actually dropped two mixtapes this week....straight crackalackin!

You all need to listen to Audio Herion and Kiss my Ass but I must say for Jadakiss....
as far as a dope album that you must own or hear . . . . for some reason he does not fit in those categories.

Kiss is a more hit or miss type of rapper.

When he is in his lane, he's one of the nicest.
But when he does tracks like redo gospel songs . . . .that just does not fly with me.

I'll put it like this . . . Jada gets better when the production is better.
Imagine if he had a better production team . . . then there would be no stoppin him. For instance, imagine Jada rapping over Just Blaze, Primo, illmind, or Large Professor

Glenn Brown's Hunky Dory

Check out this painting Glenn Brown - Hunky Dory 2005 ©
The Artist courtesy of Tate Liverpool

This is a dope image (above)

Glenn Brown was born in Hexam in 1966. From 1984 to 1992 he studied at Norwich School of Art, the Bath College of Higher Education and then trained at Goldsmith’s College. He was shortlisted for the Turner Prize in 2000.

One of the most revered painters of his generation. Brown borrows from art history and popular culture, working from the images of Dalí, Auerbach, Rembrandt, science fiction illustrators and many others to investigate the languages of painting and how images are read by the viewer. Brown is fascinated by how reproductions of paintings distort the qualities of their originals. Size, colour, surface texture and brushwork are elements by which original works are transformed from the familiar into the alien. Working from books or projecting reproductions onto a blank picture surface, Brown wildly embellishes his source material. Naturalistic colour becomes putrid or kitsch, figures are elongated or enlarged into the grotesque and heavy impasto, although painstakingly copied, is rendered entirely flat.

The exhibition, which includes over sixty paintings, sculpture and several new works, will be arranged to reveal the artist’s diverse painterly strategies and preoccupations. Rooms will be dedicated to the artist’s obsessive and meticulous copying of brushwork with works including You never touch my skin in the way you did, and you’ve even changed the way you kiss me (1994) and Telstar (1995). His relentless appropriation of Auerbach, returning to the same work again and again in order to transform the head of a figure is realised in works such as Kill the Poor(2000) and The Real Thing (2000). Further rooms will reflect Brown’s playful use of kitsch and the sublime, through which the artist radically displaces familiar works by Dalí, Fragonard and John Martin. Brown’s perceptive processes will also be explored. Often placing formal and aesthetic concerns over original subject matter and meaning, details from well known-works are isolated, manipulated, becoming subject matters in themselves.

Twestival starts today in NYC supporting a good cause

Twestival starts today throughout the world you can find out what kind of events are going on in your city.

Twestival is organized 100% by volunteers in cities around the world and 100% of the money raised from these events will go directly to support charity: water projects.

The mission of Twestival is right now 1.1 billion people on the planet don’t have access to safe, clean drinking water. That’s one in six of us. Many communities in developing nations often have a plentiful supply of clean drinking water just below the ground, but no way to get to it. This is where charity: water and their partner organizations come in. Drilling a well can cost from $4,000 - $12,000 USD and many living on less than $1 a day cannot afford one in their community, even if the money is combined.

Today, 100+ international cities will be hosting a Twestival to bring Twitter communities together in an effort to raise money for charity: water. Twestival is organized 100% by volunteers around the world and 100% of the money raised from these events will go directly to support charity: water projects. By rallying together globally, under short timescales, for a single aim on the same day, the Twestival hopes to bring awareness to this global crisis.

When will the drama stop

Shepard Fairey, the visual artist who created the iconic “Hope” poster of Barack Obama, has filed suit against The Associated Press, according to court documents. Last week, The A.P. said in a statement that the poster, based on an A.P. photograph taken by Mannie Garcia in April 2006, requires its permission for use of the image, and that it is seeking credit and compensation for its use in Shepards's works.

In the suit, filed in U.S. District Court in NY, lawyers for Shepard Fairey are seeking a declaratory judgment which would rule that Fairey’s poster does not infringe on The Associated Press’s copyrights and is protected by the Fair Use Doctrine. The complaint also seeks an injunction enjoining The Associated Press from asserting its copyrights against Shepard Fairey, his company, Obey Giant, and anyone in possession of the poster or works derived from it, as well as a jury trial.

I was reading this article in the NY Times art section and this is the update with whats going on with A.P. and Obey founder Shepard Fairey over the famous Obama "HOPE" Poster.

In TOKYO!, three visionary directors come together for an omnibus triptych examining the nature of one unforgettable city as it’s shaped by the disparate people who live, work (and run amok) inside an enormous, constantly evolving, densely populated Japanese megalopolis — the ravishing and inimitable Tokyo. This film addresses the timeless question of whether we shape cities, or if cities shape us — in the process revealing the rich humanity at the heart of modern urban life.

This film releases in the NY on March 6th and LA March 20th.

The Death of Newspapers?

Newspapers have been and remain by far the largest source of news coverage and analysis in any city or town no question because without the newspapers there would be no sheets for other media outlets such as TV, radio stations, magazines, websites, and etc.

It's interesting how the classified sections are becoming scarce thanks to websites like Craigslist, oodle, usfreeads, onlineclassifieds, and etc.

What is sad is that these major newspapers give out their the columnist’s work for free to the online medias. The younger generations rather read on the inter webs, and on top its just much cheaper than walking to the store and buying the print and also its saves paper for the environment and it is not slowing down at all because that is the way the market is shifting.

Now a days you talk to anyone everyone mostly go on website to get their most up to date news, even now because of twitter, I can get tweets sent from the NY Times, CNN, and any other media outlets for up to date info. instead of me going on the website, they send me a tweet about up to date information......so the web landscape is definitely shifting and all the big corporations are also moving towards the shift

Did you know that after reading the Atlantic, that "Newspaper penetration—the number of households looking at a paper—now amounts to less than 18 percent of the population, compared with 33 percent back in 1946. In its home market, The New York Times has a dismal 7 percent penetration. The New York Times Company, which, like the rest of the industry, used to reap tremendous profits, is one of the many publicly traded newspaper companies that have lost well over half their market value in the past two years. Just this past year, shareholders of publicly traded newspaper companies have lost 83 percent of their investments."

Quite scary, so how long do you think the Newspaper will last? Only time will tell and I will leave this quote from a veteran photographer named George Guthrie is talking to a young journalist. Guthrie says, “People do awful things to each other. But it’s worse in places where everybody is kept in the dark. Information is light. Information, in itself, about anything, is light.” So what happens when people start caring about this and there is no more investigation?

Will papers become local news sources? It seems like thats the only survivors in town.

Quite scary don't you think...

The Wild Side of Bale

You gotta listen to this audio behind the scenes of the new Terminator that Christian Bale is.

Christian Bale went nuts on the set of "Terminator Salvation" a few months back, threatening to stop production and beat some serious ass. The incident was audiotaped, and it's amazing. It happened on the set after a director of photography accidentally ruined a scene by walking onto the set.

Bale lost it, screaming, yelling and threatening to quit if the bosses didn't fire the dude.
Film execs sent the tape to the insurance company that insured the film in case Bale bailed.

Check out the remix, I'll tell you, people are getting so creative on the interwebs.
